My Fab Weekend

I had such a wonderful weekend! After work Friday, my sister-in-law Emily and I drove up to Charlotte to see the Broadway play Jersey Boys. If you have not seen it, you definitely are missing out! I saw it the original cast on Broadway in 2005, last summer in Atlanta, and again Friday in Charlotte! It truly is amazing!

We got home late Friday night and hit the bed immediately. We had to be up at the crack of dawn for Junior League. Junior League hosted a new fundraiser "Touch a Truck." It was a huge success! The old Target parking lot on Decker Blvd was filled with all kinds of different TRUCKS - firetrucks, police trucks/cars with their police dogs, dump trucks, garbage trucks, monster trucks, CAT trucks, and the list goes on....there was also entertainment for the families to enjoy! I worked a 6 hour shift at the tickets table. The wind was horrible and I was definitely covered in pollen by the time it was over, but I am very glad it was such a success for the Junior League!

Saturday night was a much needed outing with great friends! We started off with dinner at Ale House, then ventured off to various places for a night out on the town! So much fun! Monday came, and it was back to the grind. YIPPEE!!!! Do you hear the sarcasm coming from my mouth!!!?!!!

'BLACK HEELS' COMING TO THE BIG SCREEN!!!

I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I just darn knew it!!!! The Pioneer Woman's blog "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" is coming to the big screen! I am so exicted! Even better, Ree (The PW) is being played by Reese Witherspoon. I am telling you, when I was reading her saga, I could not take my eyes off of it!

WOW! It has been a busy month! The first weekend in March we traveled to Clemson/Greenville for the baseball game, then back to Columbia for the Sunday game. My weeks have been filled with of coarse work, working out, and Junior League. This past Saturday my roommate and I hosted a pre-5 Points brunch at our house. It turned out great! We are only a couple blocks away from 5 Points so it is a great place to gather and walk from there. I wish I had some pictures, but unfortunately I have misplaced my camera. Luckily, I have another camera and the battery is charging for the upcoming weekend! We are celebrating my brother's 30th birthday in Charleston. SHHHH, IT'S A SURPRISE! I am really excited!

Black Heels to Tractor Wheels: A Love Story

First of all, I don't EVER read! And, when I do, it has to be the easy-read, love-story type. I came across this "blog" (much more professional than any of our blogs) through a friend's facebook status. She was interested in the cooking part of the website because pictures were involved! That is what first drew me to click on the link, because I enjoy cooking, and I REALLY enjoy pictures of what is being cooked. Anyhow, I browsed through some great recipes and decided to take a gander through the rest of this strangers' life. That is when I was hooked! "The Pioneer Woman," whoever this stranger might be, began blogging about how she met the love of her life and their life together. This is a fabulous love story (the fairytale-movie type). I began reading it yesterday and I couldn't stop! I even printed all 75 pages to take home and read at home!

A little background of the Pioneer Woman - she moved to LA for college and became the ultimate city girl. At 25, she moved back to her hometown with plans to move to Chicago. She unexpectedly (isn't that how it is supposed to work?) falls inlove with her polar opposite (the Marlboro Man), and the rest is history. She lives on a ranch, homeschools her 4 children, and is a wonderful cook (at least through pictures). She just published a cookbook and has been featured on the Food Network.

Dinner at Mr. Friendly's

The only thing I had planned to do Saturday was volunteer at a Junior League Valentine's Refugee function. Due to the weather the event was cancelled, so that meant a whole day to do nothing! I spent most of the day lounging, trying to figure out with Brandon where we would be going to dinner for Valentine's. Somehow...our reservations at Solstice for Saturday night had been cancelled. Kevin and Amanda, 2 of Brandon's good friends were on the hunt also of somewhere to dine. Obviously, most all of the restaurants in Columbia were booked solid, and if not booked solid, the first available reservation was around 10. We knew Mr. Friendly's was on a seat-by-arrival schedule, so we figured that would be our best bet. The wait was an hour, but well worth it! We walked down to Cellar on Greene for some drinks while waiting. Much to our surprise (well not really since it is Em's favorite spot) Rhett and Emily showed up after their dinner at Baan Sawan. Finally the host from Mr. Friendly's came to get us to be seated next door. We started off with appetizers - scallops and country ham spinach dip -and a couple bottles of champagne. All fabulous!

A White Valentine's Weekend

Most South Carolinians were shocked by the amount of snow that covered the ground Friday evening. Fortunately, I was able to leave work a bit early in hopes that I could make it to the grocery store before the 5 pm rush. Of course I was wrong! I heard on the radio that the 2 most bought items were beer and pizza for the February 2010 blizzard! Personally, I was there for baked spaghetti ingredients which turned out fabulous! After dinner, I went to Rhett and Emily's for some fun in the snow!

NEWCOMER

I have always been skeptical to the whole blogging thing. I started off reading my friends' blogs, then caught myself reading total strangers' blogs admiring their fun-filled lives. They really are a great way (other than facebook of coarse) to keep up friends' and familys' lives we don't communicate with on a regular basis. I love to write about "nothing," I love the thought about people wanting to read about my "nothing," and I quite often have a good bit of spare time at work. Therefore, I thought I might give this whole blogging thing a chance.

To start off - for those of you that don't know everything about me - I am originally from Lexington, SC. I graduated from Lexington High School in 2003 (wow! almost 7 years ago). I currently reside in Columbia, SC. I attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in Business Administration, and eventually transferring to Retail Management. For those that say they couldn't wait to get out of college - crazy! Not only were those some of the best times of my life, but I made life long friendships that will never go away! In May of 2007 it was time to say goodbye to the goodtimes and hello to growing up!

With that being said - let's get on to my "real-world" life. I am currently employed by Unisource Worldwide, Inc. For those of you that don't know, Unisource is a packaging, printing, and facility supply distributor. I would like to title my position as "office manager" :) I really enjoy my job, but I am not sure this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
